Study Tasks for Final Exam

Study Tasks for EP004 Final Exam

The following study tasks will help you revisit important concepts – they are not exact questions from the exam

1. Revisit the tasks we did in our last lecture

How can you effectively carry out the first 3 steps of the research cycle?

Effective researching means carrying out effective searches.

Effective researching means evaluating your information effectively.

How to save time when carrying out database searches.

2.  Revisit or finish the table on the advantages and disadvantages of the sources (web, summon, databases etc) – you constructed the table on our wikispace. www.ep004.wikispaces.com

3. Use the recommended references page at the end of our Unit Outline and label the parts a reference (e.g. author etc)

4. Search for an article in EBSCO. Use any topic you like or try this one: Indigenous higher education. Choose any article/s

a] Practise writing the end text reference and then label the parts (author etc)

b] Identify the parts and types of information in the article/s that are useful when evaluating.

5. Review searching the different library sources (catalogue etc). You can use old search terms from the EP003 essays or make up your own.

6. Get to know how to find things in the “referencing guide”.
